Pate de Verre
First we got the clay and designed a a angel wind to go with our Angels and Demons project. Once we had moulded our clay into our chosen design we had to put it on a board and build a wall of clay around our wing so that when we poured in the plaster it would not go everywhere. Then once the plaster was set we had to get out our clay angel wing s and see if the clay had made a design on the clay. Then we washed it out to clean the design. Then when filled our design with glass we started with a very fine glass and got thicker. Once we had filled our design with glass we put it in the glass machine and waited for the glass to mould in to our design.
After it had finished int he glass machine we broke off the plaster to get out our glass angel wings. Then we trimmed off all the sharp edges using a grinder. Then we have our glass angel wings.
Making a 3D headdress
After looking at a lion king book and short film of Julie Taymor (making her 3D head wear) , we decided to make a 3D horse headwear. We used newspaper and tape, then after we finished constructing it we added brown paper to makes the surface stronger, we have to add 3 layers but we have only started the first layer.
This technique will be helpful for a dance show or something and would be a helpful technique to remember for further use.
